Tacky Ball 2008
Support Dogs, Inc. hosted host its third annual
“Tacky Ball” on March 29 at The MOTOMuseum in mid-town
St. Louis. This year’s theme “Howl’s Angels
Cruisin’ for Canines” was an inspiration to the many
guests and volunteers present at the event. Boots, jeans, riding
leathers and even tuxes and ball gowns where be seen at the event.
The evening included dinner by Butler’s Pantry Catering,
a DJ and karaoke, caricatures and plenty of raffle games to play.
Applebee’s St. Peters donated Mudslides while Butler’s
Pantry passed non-alocoholic chocolate milkshake shooters. There
was a Live and Silent Auction which featured more than 80 items.
The event will net the organiztaon nearly $24,000 which directly
benefits the many programs and activities at Support Dogs, Inc.
Support Dogs, Inc. is a national non-for-profit
organization that offers dignity, hope and independence by providing
highly skilled service dogs to individuals with disabilities and
uniquely trained dogs to serve the community. Founded in 1981,
the organization provides many services including a Service Dog
program which matches people with various disabilities with a
canine partner, an animal-assisted therapy dog program called
TOUCH (Therapy of Unique Canine Helpers), and a PAWS for Reading
program that places dogs in school classrooms.
Support Dogs, Inc. would like to thank its Contributing
Sponsor, Nestlé Purina PetCare and the VITT reserved table
hosts. There were 200 guests at the event and 80 volunteers prepared
the venue site and helped out during the event. Additionally,
SDI would like to thank the many generous donors of the many in-kind
contributions to the event; in particular McCord Design Group
and Swift Print Communications. We encourage our constituents
